This is a vibrant art trail event set to bring thousands of visitors to the area all whilst supporting the Maggie’s, the expert cancer charity who support people living with cancer and their loved ones.
Milngavie Business Improvement District (BID) is proudly sponsoring its very own giant Scottie dog sculpture. By taking part in the 2026 trail, the town is not only investing in a major cultural event, but contributing towards vital support services for Maggie’s.
Milngavie’s involvement places the town firmly at the heart of a major cultural event taking place across Glasgow and surrounding areas in summer 2026.
With thousands of visitors expected to follow the trail, there’s a real buzz building around what this could bring to the town. More footfall and more people experiencing Milngavie for the first time.
Milngavie has many independent shops and long-standing family businesses. It has a unique charm that keeps people coming back to visit. There are great coffee shops and a variety of local retailers, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The BID is delighted to confirm that one of the dog sculpture’s will be coming to Milngavie. The West Highland Way is one of Scotland’s most iconic walking routes with over 40,000 local and international walkers passing through Milngavie.
As part of a wider trail across Glasgow and surrounding areas, it’s another exciting way to put Milngavie on the map and invite even more people to visit and experience the town.
Over 30 uniquely designed giant Scottie dog sculptures will appear across Glasgow and surrounding areas. The designs are created by talented artists and inspired by different themes, stories and locations. Together they will form a public art trail that encourages people to explore new places, spend time outdoors and engage with local communities.
The trail helps raise awareness and funds for Maggie’s. This helps to ensure their centres can continue to provide free support to those who need it most.
There’s plenty to look forward to in Milngavie as the town prepares for a busy and exciting summer.
The annual Car Show places on Saturday 6th June, 10am to 5pm with over 100 cars and free kids attractions. This is followed by a full programme of Milngavie Week Community events. Then our giant Scotties in the City dog will arrive.
Milngavie BID is supported by more than 150 local businesses, alongside funding from East Dunbartonshire Council. The BID helps deliver a wide range of projects including annual events, seasonal planters and banners. The BID also does digital promotion and initiatives that enhance the image and footfall to the town.
