Milngavie Community Spirit

Join the Milngavie Fair of Clubs and Societies on Saturday, 19th September 2026, from 1pm to 4pm at Milngavie Town Hall (main hall).

With over 30 local community stalls to explore, it’s a fantastic opportunity to discover the diverse range of clubs and societies in the area.

Volunteers work to achieve the priorities identified by the full community consultation in 2016 for improving Milngavie. These include – Milngavie Week; improvements to Lennox Park; consultation on a Community Food Growing Strategy; improving the CE Centre pond with a new swan island, furniture, planting and repair of the fountain; co-operating with other local groups on :- improvements to start of the West Highland Way; public toilets; Men’s Shed; investigating renewable energy at River Allander; and, of course, this event.

Winter might be creeping in – but Milngavie is about to burst into life by doing what it does best – come together. As the nights draw in why not brighten things up with something new? Maybe this is the moment, now that we are back after the summer, to discover a hobby you have always wondered about – singing, dancing, researching, making things, gardening, collecting or simply meeting friendly folk who share your interests. And you might not know what these interests are yet.

Milngavie’s Fair of Clubs and Societies is a celebration of everything our community has to offer. So on the afternoon of Saturday 19th September in Milngavie Town Hall, with free entry for the public, there will be 24 stalls of local organisations. Each will be ready to welcome you, inspire you, and maybe even spark a brand-new interest.

There will be local charities looking for volunteers to help raise funds and ready to show you how you can, with training, help raise money for their organisation.

And for local groups – this is your moment too! If you help run a local club or society, grab a stall and show the people of Milngavie what you do. It’s a brilliant opportunity to attract new members, share your story, and connect with the community.  This will be the third time Milngavie Community Development Trust has organised such an event (always sold out) and they have proved before that this event is successful in matching organisations with local people.

To book a table for your group, for £10, or for more information, please email w.blakey@sky.com Deadline for bookings is 14th September – first come first served.
