5 September 2021.
As we emerge from the last 18 months of lockdown, businesses in Milngavie are excited to announce the second Loves Local Healthy Habits event in the main precinct on Saturday 11th September from 12 to 5pm.
This thank you event is being organised by local businesses through the Milngavie Business Improvement District (BID) team who have arranged a giant climbing wall, a 50-foot bungee run and bungee trampoline; as well as a Bucking Bronco amongst many activity-based attractions that will be located around Milngavie’s precinct.
The event went down so well in 2019 that the businesses decided to show their appreciation to the public once again by showcasing Milngavie with lots of free active family fun and entertainment.
Local business owner and Milngavie BID board director, Wendy Ross, said “It’s been a very challenging 18 months for all of us, both businesses and the local community. As a close business community, we really wanted to express our sincere thanks to all the people of Milngavie and beyond for their continued support of our businesses. We hope the Healthy Habits event will put a smile on everyone’s faces and remind everyone that we are still here.”
To appreciate that the pandemic is not completely over, the event is being carefully organised to take account of social distancing measures to keep the public safe. Attractions have been spread throughout the pedestrian precinct, so people have plenty of space to enjoy the outdoor activities.
Our national pastime – queueing – will be in place, allowing everyone to watch the fun unfold before bravely taking their turn.
This has been a common theme in Milngavie businesses, so why not come to Milngavie for an afternoon of family fun, and partake in some of the local hospitality while you are there.
Details of the Event can be seen on the Map locator below
Police Scotland will be in Milngavie town centre from 11am to 3pm installing 200 Select A Mark bike registration kits for free onto bikes! Join the 1 million bikes registered in the UK and mark and protect your bike with one of Bike Register’s free security marking kits.
The Community First Responders will be in Milngavie town centre. The fantastic team will provide practical demonstrations of CPR and useful information throughout the event. You never know, it might help save someone’s life one day.
The Fire Brigade from the local Milngavie Fire Station will be on hand in the precinct to promote fire safety in the home. They let the children sit in the fire engine and see, touch and feel the equipment the fire men use to during emergencies.
The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) will also be attending the event. They work tirelessly to educate people to enjoy water safely, to keep their families and friends safe and to know what to do in an emergency.
