Residents in North Baljaffray are set to benefit from their first-ever direct bus link to Milngavie, Bearsden, and Glasgow city centre. Starting Monday, 23 February, West Coast Motors will extend its Service 15 route to serve Moorfoot Way, answering long-standing calls for better public transport in the area.
The direct bus extension is part of a wider timetable refresh for Service 15 and Service 17, which will also see “dawn-to-dusk” connectivity introduced. For the first time, shift workers and evening travellers from Milngavie and Duntocher will have access to buses running from 5:00 AM until nearly midnight.
The improvements coincide with West Coast Motors celebrating 20 years of service in the region. The company, part of the family-owned Craig of Campbeltown Limited, emphasises that the changes are a direct response to feedback from local representatives and the community.
Richy Graham, Regional Operations Manager at West Coast Motors, said: “We have paid close attention to passenger feedback in East Dunbartonshire. Extending service 15 into Moorfoot Way is a milestone for us and a vital step in supporting residents who have previously felt underserved. Our goal is to make the bus a practical first choice for everyone, from early-morning commuters to those coming home late from the city.”
Bearsden North Councillor Duncan Cumming, who has championed the direct bus extension, welcomed the news: “This is a significant win for North Baljaffray. Bringing a dedicated bus service to Moorfoot Way for the first time will be life-changing for many residents, particularly those without access to a car. It provides that essential link to the rail network and the city that the community has been asking for.”
